About Chenya Energy

Marubeni's renewable energy platform in Taiwan

Chenya Energy Co., Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan's Marubeni Corporation and a key base for Marubeni's renewable energy operations across Asia.

Our role

Chenya develops, builds and operates utility-scale solar power plants (O&M), and provides green power sales and Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) services to advance Taiwan's energy transition and accelerate the shift to a low-carbon society.

Since its founding in 2014, Chenya Energy has built ground-mounted, rooftop and floating solar projects, investing close to NT$10 billion. Installed capacity has reached 332 MW with annual generation exceeding 440 million kWh, providing Taiwan with a stable and traceable source of green power.

Vision and mission

Chenya Energy is built on the belief that sustainable governance requires both expertise and responsibility. Energy transition is not merely a technical upgrade — it is a commitment to the future.

Milestones

From our latest work in energy storage and smart grids, back to where it began in 2014 when we entered the Taiwan market.

  1. 2025

    Storage and smart grid

Expansion into energy storage and smart grid, wider green power supply across Taiwan, and deeper environmental education and community engagement.

  2. 2022

    NT$4 billion project financing

Capital increased to NT$4.5 billion; NT$4 billion project financing for Lunweidong No.3 launched with major domestic banks, with grid connection at year end.

  3. 2020

    Marubeni takes full ownership

Marubeni takes 100% ownership of Chenya Energy; Lunweidong No.1 and No.2 connected to the grid in November.

  4. 2017–2019

    Large-scale projects completed

Completion of several large-scale projects, including Changbin Lunweidong No.1, then the world's largest offshore-type floating solar plant.
